About this Book Series

These informational picture books with flaps invite children to explore the elements: sun, rain, wind or snow in an interactive manner. Each spread has a child stating what they like about the sun, rain, wind or snow and then posing an “I wonder” question. The question is answered under the flap, where young readers will find simple scientific explanations along with illustrations. Using simple concepts of science, this Exploring the Elements series encourages young readers to explore their surroundings anew.

I loved writing these books because they allowed me to indulge in two things: first, my curiosity about the world and how things work and secondly, my desire to make my books interactive.

What I like about this series is that the books work on two levels. The younger child can simply compare his/her own likes or dislikes about the weather with those of the child in the book. The slightly older child can read and think about the scientific explanations under the flaps.
